About Us

Action for Family Carers, formerly known as Maldon Carers Centre, was founded in 1989 and is a registered charity providing support and information to unpaid Carers. It is a network member of the Carers Trust, but maintains its own fully independent charitable status. The activities of the Centre are funded mainly by Essex County Council and the local NHS.

There are nine trustees, who are elected volunteers, who form the Management Committee with thirty three paid staff and twenty five volunteers who are led by the Centre's CEO.

The Charity has grown rapidly over the last four and a half years, now delivering services and support to Carers in Braintree, Brentwood, Burnham, Chelmsford, Colchester, Maldon and Mersea Island and one of the projects is delivered Essex wide.

Carers are welcome to telephone the office or drop into the Centre for information, assistance or support.
